Knitting needles?

There are so many to pick from, wooden? Metal? Plastic? WhaleBone?.... etc. What is the right needle for me? I have found that my projects work great when I am using wooden ones lately. Not sure if the grippiness of the wood or just that I am confortable with them. I am using a pair of Denise Needles with circular attachment and well...... HATE IT. Constantly slipping stitches or just dropping them totally. I feel so uncomfortable with them, why? Everyone raved about them when I got them. Might just sell em..

What is the right needle, who knows?
